I just found out WCF, my campus ministry and primary fellowship group from Appalachian, is making their May mission trip to Rio Verde! I proceeded to run from our house to the lab, where Lucia works, and bust into her office proclaiming the good news. Everyone on the hall came to her office to see what the fuss was about. They too are very excited for me and for the group that will be coming. Rio Verde is such a friendly and welcoming community.
This morning a friend woke me early. We walked the main street browsing stores and dodging water hoses. Most all floors in Brazilian houses and stores are tile. They are cleaned by dumping buckets of soapy water on top. The dirty water is pushed out into the street with a giant squeegee. Then a rag is placed around the bottom of the squeegee to mop up the rest of the water. Last the street or side walk is hosed off for presentation purposes.
confession 4: I have started drinking entirely too much coke zero since I have come to Brazil.
