My Tuesday and Thursday afternoons are now occupied by the charming Nelly. Nelly is Lucia's mother. She has lived in Rio Verde for the past 50 years. She speaks with crisp diction (just like my mother). :) We have a language exchange agreement. I walk to her house on the appropriate afternoons and we teach each other. On Tuesdays we have English class and on Thursdays we study Portuguese. She is a lively lady with a strong faith. I really enjoy spending time with her. She is easy to talk to and treats me like a granddaughter. She already knows basic English very well. She wants to be able to converse with the mission groups when they come from the Carolinas (and speak very fast).
